Random park and a shrine

My curiosity has finally been satisifed! At least, concerning a park that's on the way to Matsushima and a shrine on the way out of my town.  yay!

The park was in the 'mountains' and it smelled so good! LIke pine and cedar!  We had to walk up all these steps to get to the top, but when we got there, the temple had contruction stuff all around it so we couldn't see it because it was getting fixed.  stink! Oh well, the view was terrific!!

ANd then we went to a shrine up at the top of a hill kind of near my house.  It was pretty old!  A new tori gate had been put up by some rich dude from Tokyo.  here it is:

Overall it was a great day!  Outsideness, saw 10,000 BC (pretty good), lunner at Coco's (cute little place in ishinomaki), karaoke and shopping for Japansese groceries!

yaaaay!  More pictures in the side slideshow!

April winds bring May...um, what rhymes with winds?

So one thing I've learned about springtime here in Ishinomaki, is that I *hate* wind.  It's so insulting and degrading...!  Stupid wind...I'm just trying to ride my bike to work!  Does it have to try it's hardest to blow me over??  GOSH!!!

Anyways!

So I went shopping the other day, and found this awesome t-shirt.  Sadly I didn't buy it, but I'm thinking I'll go back soon and do that!

hahaha, "Music is my hot."   It most definitely is!  :D

Last week I was able to go on a picnic to Hiyoriyama for Hanami! (Flower viewing)  The cherry blossoms were absolutely gorgeous!!!  And it was like, the ONE day that it was nice outside during the blossoms so I'm really glad I got to go.

Earthquake!!

There was an earthquake this morning!  whoa!  (and there's really not much else to tell...! i just hadn't felt one in awhile!)

I went to Hiyoriyama the other day to look at the cherry blossoms!  They aren't full bloom yet, but it was SO pretty! I'm going to go to, like, 3 Hanami parties with friends later on (hanami means 'flower viewing').

A pic of me on the steps leading up to the tori gate.  Wow, maybe this is like my life--I'm only on the second stair and I've got so much more ahead of me!!

And this is a picture from class one day:  I asked the students to "draw a picture" and one drew a picture of me.  isn't it cute?!? awwww

More Vacation Days!

Last Thursday I got together with Lena (she's frm Ukraine), and we drove to Ayukawa.  It's a really really small whaling turned fishing village that's about an hour and a half away from Ishinomaki.  We took a 15 minute boat ride to Kinkasan (literally "happy golden mountain" or "lucky golden mtn") and then went up the mountain (well, large hill) to the shrine there.  And there were deer!  :D  There were probably a total of 10 or so people on that island the day we went.  It was awesome!  Just so peaceful to be alone on an pined island in the middle of the ocean, standing in a temple, breathing in the fresh air.

Yesterday Yuki and I took a short trip to San Juan Park where there is a replica of a Spanish ship that came to Ishinomaki.  Silly me, I didn't take a picture of the ship, but the park was nice and I took a picture of myself in front of the waterfall:

My Day Off!

Well, I have the whole week off, but this is the first day I actually did something with my time!!  Got together with Yuki, Matsuyama-kun, and the missionaries (it was their P-day), and went to a park up in the hills.  It was SO NICE!!! And the weather was GREAT!! I didn't need a coat! WHOA!!  Happiness  :)

We were being pirates.  :D  Heeeee!!!  Land ho!!

Then people had to go to work and what not, but Yuki and I decided to go to Matsushima!  Well, everything was closed (it was only like, 5:30..!!!), but it was great because we were the ONLY PEOPLE THERE.  It was so quiet and peaceful.  I only wish I had a guy with me--it was so romantic!!

Kurashiku Paaku

Say that title real fast and you'll find that it sounds like 'classic park!'  whoa!  Japanese .... haha...

Anywhoodle, so there's this traditional house here in Yamoto that no one really cared to mention until a week ago, so I went there with my visiting teachers.  My favorite part was the gardens—I LOVE Japanese gardens!  When I have my own house, it’ll be a goal to have a small one at least.  Here’s a picture I took and took most of the color out of:

And here’s another one—it was raining, so the spout was actually dripping into the small pool there.  Hajimete!  (First time to see that!)
